Einstein's take on a Miracle..
Lately, I've done a few celebrity/ public figure caricatures and quotes.
Why? Not only because I truly enjoy the quotations, but I feel the need to sharpen my skill in caricaturing. What I did was, to find good pic of these famous people and then took less than 20 minutes to sketch from the computer's screen and refine the strokes. Yup.. just more practice.. and it's fun to do.. plus a good challenge for myself.. and I hope many could appreciate the art of caricature and the play of words combined..
Wow!! This has just arrived in my mail informing that..- there's a blog that has given me an honor for being in its list of Best Art Blogs. Do check the site out for your Art pleasure. From my understanding, the site was created with the believe to create and share Art as a necessity, as love and friendship. Thank you, Art Sediments! It's almost like a nice little miracle to end this year in my little blogging world :).
Again, enjoy your holidays, everyone..
Be good :).
Goodbye..
Whooaa.. we are so near the end of 2010...
How time flies. Everybody will be another year older.. and so on.. so on..
In every day of our lives.. even if we have the same routine of going out to work or schedule to follow- life still manages to surprise us with unconventional events or encounters. Every day we will wake to a different experience even if we walk the same old path for the past 10 years. Isn't life somethin'..?
For those who have dropped by my blog, joined my GA, became my friends, gave comments/ thoughts or simply checking out what I have to offer & share here and asking me to go to their blogs... Thank you, so much. My world has expanded virtually because of you. And not forgetting, a special thanks goes to my bee.. juz for.. being him :).

What to do-or..?
I rarely do crafts. Really. Not because I'm not good at it (erkhem2x..!) but.. I like to draw & paint more.
Today I've done something I haven't done in years. It's quite an 'ancient' craft because I remember that the last time I did this must be before I was even a teenager. And it's all because of the door.
Yup.. The door leading to my messy studio room. As this is a rented apartment, I refrained myself from using any hammer and nails.. so I thought I'll just stick to double-sided tapes- which worked just fine but I don't know for how long.
I'm calling this as some kind of an installation Art Project...hehe.. Well, I'm just going to decorate the door with a variety of stuff.. or junks that I've collected over the years.
Here's what I've got so far: An aeroplane that I put together from a leftover mounting board... a couple of clouds from the soft wrapping sheets that came with the printer early this year.. a small plastic-gift-box from my friend's wedding.. that hanging bookmark which I bought in Korea last 4 years.. and uh, that white frame which was designed for car plate numbers- I had it with me for more than 10years already. I think I bought it in the States.
Now, back to the 'ancient' craft I was talking about..
As you might have suspected.. I always looked forward for Art Classes during school days. I'm sure many of you know this craft..but I can't recall what's the name of this technique ..? Do you know?
I still remember when the Art teacher (who was also our math, english, ilmu alam & kajian tempatan and maybe Pendidikan Jasmani .. teacher too) reminded us to bring any types of papers to school- from magazines or newspaper, some glue/ kanji, scissors and a mechanical pencil with hard nose... as the next day we were going to have a craft project. So.. I'll be coming to school armed with the stuff and ready to take on any new Art&Craft challenges. At that time, this seemed to be a more enjoyable thing to do. But today, I thought, "Sheesh! Leceh plak mende nih.. why it's taking so long..?".. Oh well, age is catching up..perhaps?
Phew..! And this is just a small dimension. I wonder how I managed to accomplish something like this on a full sheet of drawing paper with buah-buahan tempatan/ local fruits? Was I more patient as a little kid?
Aahh.. That's all for now, folks! I'm off to do some painting. I've more patience for that.. heh.
Enjoy your weekend..wherever you are.
I hope I'm going to have a nice one since my anniversary is coming up on Sunday :). No biggie.. Just received a new laptop from bee which I'm so thankful and totally excited about. It was such a nice surprise gift..now I'm not sure what to get him..? huuu.
I just had to use her cute little face here! eee..!!! |

Happy Awal Muharram..
Celebrated by Muslims as the day symbolises two happy event in a Muslim's life. The start of Muslim year or calendar, Muharram, coincides with Prophet Muhammad's journey from Mecca to Medina on the first of Muharram in 622AD.
So, to all my Muslim blog readers, visitors, hoppers, surfers.. again, I wish each & everyone of you All the Best for the year ahead...and beyond.
yours truly,
Yati Yusoff aka ET
NOTE(s):
Please feel free to use the Awal Muharram Wish Banner above.
The girl was done in watercolor & ink- on paper.
The background is the photo of "Al-Masjid al-Nabawi", often called the Prophet's Mosque, a mosque situated in the city of Medina.

And the Award goes to..
WooHooo!!! Me? Really..?
Doodledesign received her first Blog Award today from lovable LIN, d' fabulous Quiller-Card-Maker.
I've surfed, jumped and skipped.. around these bloggers' world.. I have seen so many awards received by many other fantastic blogs and I always thought.. well, even though it's just a piece of picture file (jpeg) with the word AWARD on it- not a tangible trophy or anything like that... it is enough to make a blogger feels good for there's someone out there who appreciates what he/she has to offer and share in this borderless world. Somehow, it gives he/she.. one of life's intangible pleasure deep inside.. And being validated & appreciated for your presence could always do just that :). Thank you Lin, for thinking of me.
So, here I am.. paying forward to 8 carefully handpicked bloggers, to make them feel the same :).
Accepting this award, I am asked to do the following:
- Thank and link back to the person who awarded me this award. (ok)

Joining ATC :) Yay!
ATC..? No.. not "All-These-Crap".
If you're not well-informed about it- ATC stands for Artist's Trading Card.
Objectives:
1. To share knowledge and showcase talent.
2. To swap ORIGiNAL miniature arts.
3. To exchange ideas; to inspire each other; to appreciate and respect each other’s arts while at the same time building a social network of art enthusiasts both locally and internationally.
4. For FUN!
I've never done this ATC thingy before.. so this will be my 1st. The coolest thing is, it is such a small piece of art.. so cute.. only 2.5" x 3.5". When I imagine collecting this small sizes miniature arts, I know they'll be so adorable :) and precious.. I mean, they are original artworks! You've got to appreciate that. Who knows if one of the artists that you traded with is going to be famous one day?
Mysara Mangosteen is the lovely host for this event. To know more about it, just click on her name and go to her really cool site. I heard a couple of overseas artists have confirmed to join this ATC and we have a list of other cool artistic participants from Malaysia too :) So.. this should be fun. You don't need to be an artist/ illustrator to join, you know?
Actually, I was not so sure what to do on the small paper. But, I just thought it'd be fun to have a little village kids cartoon :))
Well, I had a good time painting them kids :). I named them Din & Tee. My bee said these two characters look good enough to start a series on them.
hehe.. sounds like a fun idea to me too.
Have fun.

Eid ul-Adha Comes Again..
I haven't been to Mecca.
I have heard stories from those who went there. Interesting stories of religious adventures, self healings and encounters in the Holy Land.. Yup, they have always fascinated me since I was small. You know, like.. ".. I heard the sound of Angel's wings during morning prayer..,".. " I met my late mother or father eye to eye near Ka'aba,"..and "..this very old thin man, with white beard, white jubah with the most serene face you've ever seen sat next to me while praying and in a blink of an eye, he disappeared,"... But that, is not the main purpose to make the journey. Only those who truly understand.. will find what needs to be found in this land full of Barakah..

What is so special about Mecca that pull Muslims all over the world to go there at least once in a lifetime? Well, Hajj is one of the reasons.
Hajj… Allah made it obligatory for every Muslim male and female to perform it once in a lifetime, provided they have the means and are physically able to do so. It is one of the five pillars of Islam. It was prescribed in the sixth year after the Hijrah, the migration of Messenger (peace be upon him) from Mecca to Madinah. A Muslim who denies the obligatory nature of Hajj becomes a disbeliever. A person who has the ability to make Hajj and does not do so will be accountable on the Day of Judgment.
Allah says:
"Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) to the house (Ka`bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the expenses"
[Surah Al `Imran: 180]
God willing, I would like to perform Hajj sooner or later. The truth is, I've been wishing to visit Mecca as soon as I have the chance. Right now, I'm trying to save and make as much money as I can to reach my goal. Wish me luck on that :).
In the meantime, let's enjoy the celebration of Eid ul-Adha with thanks to Him for granting us all another day to take a breath on this beautiful little earth.. Yup. We are all so very little... and our life is shorter than we realized... So why don't we enjoy it and do our duties to Him too? After all, at the end.. we're going back to Him.
Take care, all right?

Adorable Duo
BFF!
That's what their mothers hope they will be :).
These adorable duo are the daughters of my good friends.
Mothers have so much hope for their kids. More often than not, they hope their kids will have a good if not a better life than theirs. Many kids live up to their hopes.. while others may have let them down in some ways. Well, I suppose... as so many things in life, you can only but hope. You can give so much.. you can take so much. Someday, like little birds.. they'll fly their own wings and explore their own territories.
Owh, by the way.. I came across this blog named THE MEANEST MOM.
I kind of enjoying many moms' experiences through motherhood and hers is one of the coolest. My theory is.. to be a mother, you need to be creative- not necessarily in art! Make Life interesting while your children is growing up and they'll treasure the memories as long as they live. (Since I don't have any children yet, I might as well make up some theories of motherhood..heh) Really- hers was Voted Parent & Child Magazine's Best Mommy Blogger 2009. Now, if you don't have much to do or read, just check out her "funny without being crude" blog :).
Enjoy!

Love is Blind..
...Marriage is the Eye-Opener. ~ Pauline Thomason
Happy Wedding Anniversary to all who have celebrated or.. are celebrating or.. will celebrate.. it! I'd like to share a couple of caricatures done for a couple of couples.. who truly celebrate the love they shared.. Aww..
It was fun to make the caricature above because she wanted to incorporate their cat named Grey. Both of them have just celebrated their 1st Wedding Anniversary. This caricature is made into A5 Greeting Card complete with a little wish inside that I designed and printed on another piece of paper. A little bit of collage and glitters going on in front of the Card :).
Here's an old friend of mine with 15 years of marriage and 4.. or is it, 5?.. kids under the belt. Her hubby runs a restaurant in Perth so she travels there now and then. I thought a little koala would be nice for this one. So, I did one. Hehe.
Last but not least, enjoy this quotation which I found myself smiling when reading it. Teeheehee..
" I love being married. It's so great to find one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life." ~ Rita Rudner

My client personally asked for a cute turtle on one of the bags. I love her idea :). Does she know how much I love doodling cute cartoon characters..?
All I need now is a good massage...
Honey bee, would you come home early?

ART Eco Bag- BUY & DONATE.
Shopping is fun, but it has a nasty bi-product and it is called plastic bags!
Sometimes, I don't want to shop that many things. But 'that not-so-many-things' may not fit my two not-so-skinny hands! What I need is a shopping bag.. RECYCLE one! By now, many of us should know that every Saturday is the "NO PLASTIC BAG DAY" in Selangor. For me who's not into huge hand bags nor totes, plastic bags were so convenient to carry stuff that I bought from the drugstore or kedai runcit. But now, I'm making a pledge to lessen its usage even on other days.. and I'm going to have a few recyclable shopping bags ready in my car wherever I go. ( Chanting in my head : ..i must remember this.. i must remember this..!)
What I need now is.. to look 'cool' using the bag :-D. heh. So I painted a little Art on my Non-Woven Shopping Bag, yesterday.
Non-woven bags can be reused countless times and are recyclable. They're really durable! Doing so not only earns you brownie points with Mother Nature, but you will soon reduce the clutter of having plastic bags stashed everywhere at home. I have so many of them in a little nook of my kitchen and I don't know what to do with them now... send 2 recycle centers? But they're so non biodegradable - what will the centers do, huh?
Next time, bring a non-woven bag or two along before you head off to the supermarket for groceries and say NO to plastic bags at the cashier. We should be creating a healthier world, one decision at a time!
In line with this message, I'm happy to be able to sell to you a few of my LIMITED ART Eco Bag. And of course, the artworks are original- freshly hand painted. The idea, effort, time and energy put on each artworks are personal & priceless. It's hard to put a price on something like this, actually. But I'm selling it for the sake of Art, for the environment and also for a good cause. Yes, helping the environment is already a good cause but I'm talking about- for every sale made from my ART Eco Bags, I'll donate 10% to a single mother whom I know and in need of monetary fund. See, I'm not a rich artist.. sobs.., but I'd like to help in any way I can, insyaAllah.
If you like the same design as my 1st Bag, I could make one for you in no time too :)
Thank you in advance, for your interest and help :). Only God could return your kind gesture with much blessings in life.
