End of Year 2009

Can u believe that time of year is finally here? It's the last month of 2009 already!! Huhuuu..how time flies.

Year 2009 really just 'swooshed' through me. I feel like I have not achieved much. In fact, I have been a total wreck..especially after losing my firstborn early this year. God must have had other plans for me that I couldn't see just yet. But most importantly, my baby boy is certainly in a better place now.

Above is a small painting (A4 size) that I did after I lost my son.
Title: My First Love..Now He's Gone.

Oh well.. Life must go on.

ET: A Caricaturist 4 Hire

When I do caricatures or cartoons, ET is my alter-ego name. My old friends from high school called me the name and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure why. Was it my head?..my face?... my height? - that might resembled the creature? Arrrgh!!
Ok.. I'm not about to put my own pix for you to make some comparisons.. heh. But it could be because in my school batch of MRSM Kerteh 1987-89, we have a few girls with the same name, hence they needed to give each of us a different nickname. Somehow, I got stuck with ET. Just maybe, I was one of the geeks with an artistic freak...i mean, streak.

I love doing caricatures as I enjoy doing portraits. When you do caricatures, you could really let your imagination run wild with fun expressions of the people you draw. And when you do portraits, the same passion still runs but with handle and care to paint what you see in a person onto a canvas. Whatever it is, enjoy yourself.
My latest client asked me to cartoonize the portraits of her lovely kids. Aren't they just cute?

Let me show other caricatures I have done some time ago..

Beach Clean-up in Terengganu

I had a fun time last weekend in Marang, Kuala Terengganu. There was an event organized by MOSTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation), TREVICOSTA ( Terengganu Riverine and Coastal Authority) and BERKAT (Badan Kerja Amal Wanita Profesional Terengganu di Selangor dan Wilayah Persekutuan) to clean the beach in Marang. It was aimed to create awareness about our marine health and system and how important it was to take care of it. I would recommend people coming to the State of Terengganu to visit the place. It's a lovely, peaceful and an interesting little village. Actually, I'm a member of BERKAT and was given the task to organize a Coloring Contest as part of the event. So I created this little drawing as the coloring template for the KEMAS kids..
TSMAP stands for TERENGGANU SUSTAINABLE MARINE AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR COASTAL COMMUNITIES

It rained heavily during the contest but the kids (plus their teachers and parents) managed to stay put and looked like they were enjoying the weather. I thought they were so cooperative, organized and patient throughout the event. 50 students between the age of 3 to 6 years old took part for the contest .

Congrats to the girls and a BIG thank you to
PELIKAN for sponsoring the prizes and coloring kits.

Most of the committees involved during the event stayed at the Marang Waterfront Resort & Spa- including me. I love the small resort. It was simple..comfortable and the river was right in their backyard. Simply scenic!. The food was OK and I especially love the Resort's Tapai Ubi Ice Cream.. Ahhh...so yummy.

Even though my stay was short, I longed to return and be inspired by nature and the everyday life along the Marang River...

Doodle T-shirts

Haven't been blogging for a while... Just been busy with a few projects. And one of them was messing around with an already messed up t-shirt of my bee. He thought I would cover the stain on the shirt but I kept it that way to remind him of how messy he could be when he was eating. Haha..

"..Ulat bulu naik dauuuunn...."
It's fun to draw on T-Shirt. It would be one of a kind because you can't possibly duplicate the exact creation on another shirt. So, this is another idea for an exclusive gift for someone you care about. Let me show another 2 shirts I've done before.. well, I've done more than these 3 t-shirts but I couldn't find any pix of those I've sold or given away.

Well, that's all for now. Enjoy ur doodly day.

A Basket of Durian

Life is like... a basket of durian. U never know what u r going to get.

Couple of nights ago, I went ahead and ate some durians. For RM9, you can eat until you're full. ERgh. Out of seven durians, only one tasted really good. Oh well, at least I had some for this year's season. You never know if you'll do the same again in the coming years. So why not stuffed a few and experienced the consequences that came with it? Yeah.. only people who eat durian can tell you about it. As long as you don't take a panadol after durian consumption, God willing, you'll survive the next day.

Like the basket of durian, I'm reminded of life.

Some people are lucky. They know who they are. They also know what they want in life. Sometimes, some people thought they knew who they were and what they wanted in life... and suddenly, something changed. All the things they had planned for their life took a wrong or a different turn. Then they realized that maybe what they wanted in life was not the same anymore. That'll be the day when a doctor became a farmer... or a geologist became a writer.. or an ordinary housewife became a powerful politician... etc.

What do you want in life?.

Happy Doodly-Dooo!

Let's get down to business. Well, with a short intro nonetheless. I've finally set up my graphic design studio named DOODLEDESIGN. It's been a while.. I mean, I've been in the business since 1999. My real experience with designing stuff was really when I started working after graduation with a TV station in Kuala Lumpur and then with 2 private art & design companies over the years. With the changing lifestyle and even me, settling down into another phase of life, I've decided to go online giving my professional service in designing anything I could get my hands.. or my PC on (for a reasonable fee, of course).

Design services that I normally do:
- Logo, Letterhead, etc / Coporate Identity
- Brochure
- Poster
- Bunting/ Banner
- Greeting Cards
- Wedding Cards
- Corporate Annual Reports
- Company Profile
- Magazine
- etc. (well, I think you get some ideas, by now..)

I could also do the printing service for all of the above, if needed. Especially for customers in the Klang Valley, transportation to deliver the goods is not a problem.

Happy Doodle-Ooo! Keep 'em creative juice comin'!!
