Must keep doing what I love...

Drew the girl for just a little reminder...

Doodled two gift-tags (no. 7 & 8) for my nephews' birthdays.

Made a simple black&white gift tag made for my friend's newborn.

Sketched three Little Girls wearing hijab just for fun.

Medium: Pencil Color
When my boy slept a little early at night, I would try to take a little time to draw and/or color anything that attracted my heart.

These little things I do... make my own heart sings!

Black & White... and A Freebie

This black & white wedding couple caricature was on A4 paper and I used pencil & pen (for the outline).

This one, on the other hand... was a digital sketch using my bamboo pen.

Now, here's the Freebie I made just for fun.
It started as a small doodle in the sketch book and she's just so sweet smiling little thing that I wanted to share with you :).

Enjoy!

Life's Like That :)

Just a silly cartoon sketch I made recently after I came across this anonymous 'quote' from somewhere.. hehe.

Wherever you are, be safe, my friends :).
Well, at least take some precautions.
We can only but plan.

And by the way, don't forget there'll be a Vintage Bazaar coming up this Saturday in Jalan Maarof, Bangsar. A limited collection of my hand made/ painted Bookmarks will be up for grabs at Kalerpalette's Booth over there :).

If you don't have much plan, why don't you drop by?
Have fun.

A Wedding is On The Way...!

I've just sent a black & white Caricature to my gorgeous client and glad that she liked it. She said she's going to use the Caricature for her wedding give away ( printed on mugs). Wow... yet another lovely idea for wedding gifts, huh?

For Azilah, Congratulations and Best Wishes to you :)

Enjoy!

My Sleeping Baby..

Illustration Friday's theme of ASLEEP makes me think about my baby in Heaven...

The first.. and last time I saw him, he was like in a very deep sleep... so peaceful... and his lips were so red. I still miss him and will always be.

" Syyyy... He's fast asleep now....," whispered Little Bear softly to the others.

For this illustration, I have decided to combine my pen & ink sketch with a bit of pencil shades (on the baby)... and Photoshop the colors... just for the fun of it :).

Take care, everyone.

Royal Love is in the Air..

Just a quick sketch one night.. while watching one after another.. documentaries about the Kings and Queens, about the Royal Couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton on ASTRO. Wow, they really make a big deal of this wedding, huh? Kate invited me for her wedding.. but I said.., "Aah.. too far, my dear. Enjoy the Wedding, ok? Send my warmest regards to William." (hmm... yeah..ok..perhaps that was just my imagination.. heh.

Sadly, all these only bring back memories of  the late Lady Diana, Princess of Wales. When I was a kid, I always asked my dad to cut my hair like her. So, every time I cut my hair.. until now.. I'll think of her.

Gotta love her hair...
Anyway.. all of us.. all over the world.. are going to witness another historical fairytale wedding on the 29th April 2011. Let's wish that this lovely Royal Couple will live happily ever after.

But let's be realistic. Is there such a thing as fairytale ending..? Well.. we can only but hope for the best.. :), right?

A Doctor in The House

Autobiography. I love reading it and I'm still reading this one.. quite engrossed, actually. Can't help but drew this caricature because the cover picture of Dr.M was so beautifully taken. His face looks so happy & friendly that you feel like you know him personally :). Credit goes to photographer Tara Sosrowardoyo who happens to be Dr.M's son-in-law.

At Last, a NEW Blog Header!!

Phew! The truth is.. changing my 'old' Blog Header...

... to a new one..

.. was one of  the top wishes in my new year's list. heh. Oh well, better late than never, right? :-P.

I'm quite happy with the result. I sketched with 2B 1.8mm pencil the whole scene this morning in my old big sketch book. But for ET.. 'E' = Eagle & Egg + 'T'= Tiger + Tree...(in case, no one notices them- ha!) I used my very new A6 sized sketch book which I 'accidentally' bought in MPH bookstore last weekend.

"The Old vs. New"

I like this green color but there are other color choices as well.

The First Watercolor & Ink work to grace the book :).

It costs RM25.40. For me, it's a bit costly.. but I love the thick acid-free cream watercolor paper which is just nice for my future small watercolor/ pen/ pencil sketches. Well, watercolor is, after all-my favorite medium. I just can't resist buying it.

Actually, I didn't plan to buy the sketch book (for myself)... because I still have one very very precious moleskine waiting blankly on my desk.. It was given by my bee. huhuu.. I thought I want to use it when travelling some day.. but I love it too much to even start a drawing.

But anyway, my point was... I went to MPH that day to find a gift for my younger brother's birthday. So, I saw this sketch book and bought it as a gift for him but it was bigger-A5 (and more expensive) than the one I bought for myself . After I wrapped it, I made a quick-last-minute hand drawn Birthday Card on a brown rice paper I found at mom's house. Using my youngest sis's black magic pen, I caricatured my brother's face;-

Ali seemed happy to receive the Gift :). Have a Wonderful Life, bro!
 May God Bless you always.

Now, let me go back and say something about my NEW Blog Header which is making itself comfortable up there by now.. It looks more cheerful than before, don't you think so?

I have combined my pencil and watercolor & ink sketches in Photoshop.. and the wording came from Illustrator. Basically, I hope the Header has represented most of what I love to do in life... in this blog. I hope who ever drops by this little space will like it and feel happy looking at it too!

Enjoy!

A Mud-Skipping Clown!

So.. I saw many happy mud skippers when I went to the beach in Kuala Selangor. You can read more about my trip and encounter here.

For me, they looked and acted funny. Thinking about it..  quite bizarre to see a fish being able to breathe, alive and kicking even on the land! Makes me appreciate more about Him who creates us all. But more importantly, now I have this crazy whimsical image of them in my mind! Haha!

Ok- that was my initial pencil sketch. But not whimsical enough, I think.

Much better :P.

Enjoy!

Einstein's take on a Miracle..

Lately, I've done a few celebrity/ public figure caricatures and quotes.

Why? Not only because I truly enjoy the quotations, but I feel the need to sharpen my skill in caricaturing. What I did was, to find good pic of these famous people and then took less than 20 minutes to sketch from the computer's screen and refine the strokes. Yup.. just more practice.. and it's fun to do.. plus a good challenge for myself.. and I hope many could appreciate the art of caricature and the play of words combined..

Wow!! This has just arrived in my mail informing that..- there's a blog that has given me an honor for being in its list of Best Art Blogs. Do check the site out for your Art pleasure. From my understanding, the site was created with the believe to create and share Art as a necessity, as love and friendship. Thank you, Art Sediments! It's almost like a nice little miracle to end this year in my little blogging world :).

Again, enjoy your holidays, everyone..
Be good :).

Goodbye..

Whooaa.. we are so near the end of 2010...

How time flies. Everybody will be another year older.. and so on.. so on..

In every day of our lives.. even if we have the same routine of going out to work or schedule to follow- life still manages to surprise us with unconventional events or encounters. Every day we will wake to a different experience even if we walk the same old path for the past 10 years. Isn't life somethin'..?

For those who have dropped by my blog, joined my GA, became my friends, gave comments/ thoughts or simply checking out what I have to offer & share here and asking me to go to their blogs... Thank you, so much. My world has expanded virtually because of you. And not forgetting, a special thanks goes to my bee.. juz for.. being him :).

Have fun and take care, my friends.

Owh.. by the way, I saw this YouTube today from a funny girl named Maria. What a talent.. She made my day :D Teeheehee..

Are Black & White- Colours?

Truth be told, I've been quite confused about this matter. Some people said they are some people said they are not. But what I gather is that the matter has to be explained in a couple of ways- artistically and scientifically.

In art, white is the absence of all color and black is the presence of all color. If you mix all the primary colors- RED+YELLOW+BLUE, you'll get BLACK.

And of course, if you have a blank white paper and you paint on it and left some parts with no paint, the latter will be seen as white- no color. But what if you have a black surface and you need some white in the painting.. then you'll have to use 'white paint'- and that's color..?

Scientifically, we have understand how our eyes perceive colors. Ok- I was a science student before and I should know this. Thanks to my science teacher who explained that our eyes understand colors because of light that enters our eyes. When all the colors are combined, it makes white. These colors are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. So here, they say that WHITE is a color and BLACK is the absence of color. Black can also be defined as the visual impression experienced in directions from which no visible light reached the eye.

See the apple? Why we see it as as RED color? The surface of a red apple absorbs all the colored light rays, except for those corresponding to red, and reflects this color to the human eye. Get it?

For an artist.. colors are important. Black, white and all.. are crucial to make certain impact on any art works. It doesn't matter whether black and white are colors or values or anything else one would define... The important thing is to convey what we want others to see in our visual expression. But what I like about colors is that they could also speak on emotions. Black could be seen as darkness.. a mystery..an obscurity; and white could be seen as purity.. serenity..and spirituality.

Thank God.. He gave us eyes to see. If we are blind, He gave us eyes in our hearts to 'see' in another way. Just close your eyes.. what can you see? Can you see black? Can you see white? Some people told me that if you like to wear Black clothing, that means you are hiding some secrets or maybe you could keep secret very well. And if you like wearing White.. you are a spiritual person. You have a spiritual tendency in your life- to do good things.. to understand your faith and you constantly thinking about God. What if you like wearing black & white? Well, people just might see you as a lizard's poop (tahi cicak). hehe.

Oh yes, before I forgot, I'd like to share my Black& White caricature here :)

Enjoy.
It's Monday today. I hope it's not a blue one for you & me...
