When 2 Hearts Become One...

Congratulations for my loving client, Shahida's parents on their 26th Wedding Anniversary... I think, this will be a very nice surprise gift for them :).

In the meanwhile, another client of mine will have a Wedding, start a new life... in about one month from now. She has asked me to design her Wedding Card with a Flower Theme pen-sketch concept. I think it's a lovely idea :) and will make a beautiful reminder for everyone...

A Boy, A Book Mark... & A Wedding Card.

My nephew, Amin was looking at my 'hanging' handmade bookmarks the other day (the ones for Kalerpalette's Vintage Bazaar- oh, look! some pictures from them, here- by the way.. ;)......

... and asked me to make one for him. Awww... I think it's nice for a kid of 7 years old to appreciate this kind of thing :). Well, not totally A surprise, though- as Amin really loves Art. He often watched his Artist dad, too.


Last 2 years, he drew my portrait. Still keep it on my fridge :-)

So, anyway... because he asked, I made one hanging Book Mark for him:-

He loved it, of course. But now, his other brother, Haqeem also wanted one for himself. Hmmm... Guess he has to wait a bit because I'm in the middle of finishing some paintings for upcoming group exhibitions in August and September. Watch out for updates about it in my ArtBlog, soon :).

I'm just glad over the fact that I've printed and sent the 600 pcs of Wedding Cards to my neighbor's daughter. It was Custom Designed... according to what she (and her parents) wanted (and on budget too!). Quite simple and nice, English feel... with a cute touch of a little flower ribbons in front of the Card (which were patiently planted one by one on the Card with my Mom's and sisters' help- Thank God!)

Designing..

Hi... just to update my design works a bit, here. It's more for my own record, actually :).

I have designed a couple of Logos for two companies. After some discussions, proposals, alterations and so on, I managed to make the clients happy with the result.

Thank God :).

Some people think doing graphic design works are quite easy. They fail to realize that there's a lot of thinking and energy... and sometimes, research that goes into each design works. Your design doesn't work if you don't know how to make a good composition... or if you don't really know your colors... or you don't get symbols and shapes that could be meaningful to your creation. 

The aesthetic value of graphic designs is quite often been taken lightly by many. And putting a price to an idea is another thing. Some people can appreciate it, some just don't. You can find many copycats and cut & pasters (is there such a word?- whatever... you know what I mean, right?) around, nowadays. Internet makes a lot of great graphics designs available for grabs. And because they are in digital form, it's easier for people to steal from real designers and manipulate them in some ways. 

However, internet also makes it easy for more people to actually learn graphic design and be great designers without having to take a course in any colleges. This can be learned from some blogs with free lessons and You Tubes, etc. 

Oh, I don't really know why I'm blabbering about graphic design today. I think, I learned a lot about graphic designs more through experience over the years because during college, it was more on basics. It's a skill that required practice and you'll learn a lot by asking around... and through readings too. Some people have 'the eye' for design. How lucky :). For me, there's still so much to learn and I must keep improving my skill in this department. So, I'm really happy to have access to those generous blogs and You Tubes too. Nothing wrong with that, really. It's just bad when people steal from you :(. 

Anyway, there's another thing I've designed and this time, it was for my parents :) Actually, they were attending and are going to attend so many weddings here and there. With every weddings, they will bring a gift for the newlyweds... and apart from wrapping papers of all patterns and colors, they've also been buying quite a lot of small wedding Cards to go with the gifts. So, I've decided to design one card and print a few dozens for them. Haha.

My Mom really loves it. Yay!!

Current Projects..

I would like to change my blog header but I still can't get down to it. I'm thinking I should 'doodle' my header.. on things that I love doing.. creating.. or maybe something that is more 'me'. Oh well, perhaps I'll have the chance to do it after finishing a few current projects I have in hand.

One of them has just finished and already sent by hand this morning to my lovely client, Emelly. I must tell you how brilliant she was with this creative idea for her wedding next month! By the way, I did her wedding caricature last year too! She was pretty organized and planned her wedding well.. so yes, she prepared many things for her wedding since last year. But last week, she asked whether I could do something like a 'story board' of her beautiful LOVE STORY to display on her wedding ceremony. I simply answered "Yes, I'll try my best".. although I've never done anything like it before. But I just couldn't resist to do this fun idea of hers :). She posted me all her ideas on a sheet of paper, some thumbnails of her storyboard and 4 photos that she wanted me to tie them together with a nice illustration... which I did :).

When I saw her smile upon looking at this illustration board this morning, I felt like flying with joy.. :). All the best, dear Emelly!

The next project I'm still working on is creating a simple and nice Wedding Invitation Card.. it's more of a graphic design work and printing to do later on. My client's dad is more like the 'Creative Director' in the house...hihi. Much of this card idea came from him. He's a pensioner who teaches Qur'an during the weekend, does the landscaping outside in the morning and has a fine taste in interior decorations and crafts! It's no surprise that he is now working on the 'bunga telur' (little gifts with boiled eggs to give to the wedding guests) for her daughter's wedding in November. Wow.

Here's the mock-up I designed. I'll post the finalized version.. hopefully- when everything's confirmed.

Another thing I'm doing and rushing to finish before the weekend is another fun hand-painted ECO BAG project! Again, the order came from one of my most appreciative clients, Kay from BlingLustre! With more events she has planned for her business, she made me created some goodie bags to use for them. I found in my supplier's stock some pink non-woven bags and I know Kay simply loves pink! However, my supplier said that these will be the last pinks he has in stock. Boo hoo! He also said he is discontinuing the cream color bags I used to paint on! What?? But I love doing my artwork on the cream colored ones. So now, I'm stuck with a bunch of LIMITED multi-colored non woven bags in stock- light blue, black, orange, yellow... well, I guess, in the near future you'll see more colorful ECO bags in my creations. Yay!!

 

Phew! My eyes are quite tired. I must retreat from my project report record right now. An old friend is asking me to create a Logo for a new tuition center and she wanted it to look as grabbing fun as the Artventure Kid's logo I did before... and I must develop a logo for a logistics company which I already proposed a few designs last week.. and now, the boss came back to me with one that he likes but needs more tweaks! I'll sleep on it tonight.. and hopefully more fresh ideas will come tomorrow. yawn..

Just a short one before it escapes my mind (or I got lazy again- heh) , I'd like to present my finished project of the Custom Designed Wedding Card which I've recorded the progress in this blog.

The ribbon was my client's Mom's idea and she looked happy with the finished products. I pray the wedding will go on well and smoothly for the sweet and wonderful family :). Have a great & happy one, Ida.

Update..

As to update my slow moving blog.. and more importantly, to record some of the things I did and am doing..and planning to do, I'd like to post the wedding card design that I've proposed for my lovely client. Names and Address on the card have been removed to avoid people coming to the event uninvited. Hehe.

Already submitted to my client and already received the feedback. I need to change the background color to cream..almost golden and oh yes, now I'll have to change the caricatures to portraits to give it a more 'serious' look. Well, I'm glad I don't have to search for a portrait artist because I could do that too! hehe. Talking about ' art & design under ONE roof or rather, ONE person'. Good for me, huh?
