The New Welcome Doodle!

Helloooooooooooo!

I wish you had a great new start this year 2014.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for taking a bit of time checking out my inactive blog.

Even though I haven't updated much, I've had people contacting me through emails and FB... asking for my ART services. Thank you... Thank you.

Yes, I'm still alive and I still do take orders for caricatures/ designs/ doodles and such.
However, my time is now more occupied with my duty as a MOM to a very cheeky and active boy who's turning TWO by April this year.

A Happy Little Astronaut!

If I were to do my magical 'creations', it'll be during his sleeping time, especially during the night.
So, if you need me to do anything for you, please get in touch with me in advance and NOT with last minutes job.
Another thing is, I plan to get back to my drawing table and do more serious artworks (ie. watercolor paintings) this year, insyaAllah...
So, you might see some updates here instead of in Yartstik. (I've figured out that managing more than one blog is quite an uphill battle now...hehee).

Last 2 nights, I doodled a new HEADER for myself... but I'm not sure why I couldn't get it installed in the Blog. So, why don't I just display it here for now.

In the meanwhile... have a bright and prosperous year ahead... and enjoy!

Know what? You guys have been patient.. (me too :).. so, I'd like you to take a "sneak peek" at the MYSTERY GIFT for the Most Lucky Person in this 1st GIVE-Art-WAY!

Hehe.. Told you it's just a "sneak peek"... a *hint *hint.... So, take a guess for now and Good Luck with that!

Psst..psst.. Tomorrow is 15th October and it's my younger sister's (Adda who has her own blog of vintage clothing for sale) time in the limelight! It'll be her BIRTHDAY!! I made her a handmade birthday Card. I hope she won't be reading this post before tomorrow (hihi). But I'd like to share with you guys ... :). Just don't tell her just yet.

I was so happy with my first handiwork of the GIVE-Art-WAY Bookmark that I decided to create another Little Dress with more accessories on it. Besides, I have quite a bit more of the fancy-swirling-pattern wrapping paper 'left-over' to work with. Hihihii. And those accessories came from.. err.. one of the wedding giveaways (bunga telur) I had been to.. somewhere. Well, my sisters know me well enough that I'm a bit of a 'hoarder'.. and I like to 'recycle' or 'reuse' stuffs. I say I'm just being 'practical' :). Heh.

Here's the Gifts for Adda  (the big one- I shared with another sister to buy.. :)

You know what else is nice about this Card? You could take the hanged Dress out and turn it into a Bookmark!

Told 'ya I'm a practical person, right? Huhuuuu..

So... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my dear dear sister who is not getting any younger.. kuikuikuii.
May God Bless you in everything that you do and if you get married next year, make sure you ask me to be your designer :). LOve you. Not much I can give.. No wise advice I can offer. As long as we live, insyaAllah I'll always be there.. forever.

            come what may..

Enjoy your comin' weekend, dearest bloggers & surfers. God bless.

A Little Gift 4 A Little Girl.

This latest caricature is especially made for a special little Birthday Girl who turned '2' on 19th April 2010!! May Happiness be with her and her family now and hereafter. Maybe right now she doesn't really know how to appreciate it.. but someday, I know she will :)..

Medium: Color Pencil on Drawing paper

I Love ET

Someone loves ET. So I gave him this cheap T-shirt ;P...

It was a fun self-project for my bee. Just a tiny gift to appreciate his support for my artistic ventures & misadventures.. :). I used a Pelikan product called Stoffmalen- Fabric pens. Convenient to use, easy to handle.. and once your design is done, you've to iron the fabric on the reverse side to fasten colors.
Cool, huh?

The Cartoonist in Me..

Aaah.. Over a cup of smooth frothin' coffee that I made myself one evening, I was looking at some old collections of my cartoon drawings.

Hehe.. I was smiling alone yet again.

I used to dream of becoming a cartoonist when I was in primary school. Those times, Gila-Gila was one of the most well-known humor magazine- just like MAD. Ujang, Jaafar Taib, Rejabhad, Ambo, Nud's, Asan, Cabai, not forgetting LAT... (just to name a few), were among my favorite cartoonists. It was not until after Form 5 (aged 17) that I had the chance to take a bus to Bangsar and searched for Creative Enterprise, the publisher and met the people behind the cartoons. I dragged along my brother Ali who was about 12 at that time, to accompany my little trip. He was crazy about the magazine as well.

Way back when I was 12, I actually created a so-called magazine out of my Exercise Book called SENYUM SENGEH ( translated as SMILE2x?). Unfortunately, I lost the few issues of my own magazines due to my family moving from one place to another over the years. My brother still remember the book. He said he actually copied one and sold to his friend! CHEH!! Too late for me to chase him around the house, I guess.

Anyway, back to my trip to the magazine's office- both of us (my bro & me) were quite excited meeting the cartoonist. They were friendly and funny.. and we even received a few souvenirs from them like a sketchbook with their signatures and a few of them sketched our caricatures in it too. Allahyarham Rejabhad asked me if I wanted to join his "Cartoon Workshop" during weekends? Duh, of course I wanted to join. A few months later, my first cartoon strip was printed in the magazine in New Talent's corner. A few more strips were approved and printed in the next month. A few months later also, I was offered to study abroad in Advertising. To cut a short story even shorter, I took up the offer and never returned to Creative Enterprise again.

But after all the years, I still love cartooning. That's all I have to say about that..

I'd like to make a note here that in year 2008, a Thailand publisher has published a book written by a Malaysian entitled Dos & Don'ts in Malaysia. I was thrilled as by chance, the publisher's rep commissioned me to do the cartoons for the book. I did almost 250 illustrations not without a lot of researches and references for over one year. It was quite a daunting task but I treasured the experience. Unfortunately, as the book was published, it was hit hard by a few bad reviews and controversial issues on races and beliefs written by the author... later it was asked to be removed from selling in any bookstores in Malaysia. Yeah, too bad my works didn't quite see the light of the day. Thankfully, the publisher did pay me and gave a few copies for my keepsake. Phew.

Owh, I just found someone selling it on ebay!

Here's a cartoon of mine that I wanted to produce for Raya card last few years. I think it's cute. Heh.

Enjoy..

ET: A Caricaturist 4 Hire

When I do caricatures or cartoons, ET is my alter-ego name. My old friends from high school called me the name and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure why. Was it my head?..my face?... my height? - that might resembled the creature? Arrrgh!!

Ok.. I'm not about to put my own pix for you to make some comparisons.. heh. But it could be because in my school batch of MRSM Kerteh 1987-89, we have a few girls with the same name, hence they needed to give each of us a different nickname. Somehow, I got stuck with ET. Just maybe, I was one of the geeks with an artistic freak...i mean, streak.

I love doing caricatures as I enjoy doing portraits. When you do caricatures, you could really let your imagination run wild with fun expressions of the people you draw. And when you do portraits, the same passion still runs but with handle and care to paint what you see in a person onto a canvas. Whatever it is, enjoy yourself.

My latest client asked me to cartoonize the portraits of her lovely kids. Aren't they just cute?

Let me show other caricatures I have done some time ago..
