A Vintage Market & Some things for Raya.

I know.. I know..
It has been a while since I last upblog-ed. ('upblog' is the term used when I tell my bee that I'm updating my blog.. hehe :)

What have I been up to?
Well, just a few things here and there... doing this and that.
Sometimes, when my hands are busy making things, I feel quite lazy to upblog. While the hands were working, the head was busy thinking and planning about things to do next. By the end of the day/ night, the whole body felt tired and just needed some rest.. and a good massage (*hint *hint ).

Ok now, firstly... let me update about another July EVENT coming up next weekend. I was excited to be invited by the fabulous Artsy gals at Kalerpalette to contribute some little things for them!

One of Kalerpalette's latest vintage Collection.

What Event did I hear you ask? This POSTER will tell you all about it...

As you might have known, I don't have any actual vintage stuff to sell but... but... I do have VINTAGE Dresses BOOKMARKS :) ! Tra la laaa....la laa...

Hey, look who's peeking? It's Birdy Gaga! teeheehee.

These are just a few pieces of many more to come.. (I hope). They are fun to make but take a lot of time too- the hangers... the dress patterns... pheww!

So, then there's another thing that I'm doing... which is designing and printing Custom Made Raya Cards plus Duit Raya Envelopes. Yes, some people still use them, in case you forget :). Let me show the one recently approved by a corporate client:

You know, even the songket on the Card was an original songket I took from my Dad's wardrobe (hehe.. thanks Abah!) and photographed by yours truly too.

I still think it's very nice to receive and send Raya Cards because they're tangible generous 'thoughts' which you can keep for years. But lately, of course, more people are sms-ing and maybe MMS-ing Raya Greetings- which is also good, as long as we don't forget who matters to us in festive times like this. That's why I also am offering to create a custom made greetings through MMS. A simple yet complicated animation of your own Caricature.

Let me show you a sample:

Yes, you can download this thing in your mobile and send MMS to your family & friends. It's like you buy only ONE Raya Card and can send to many people :) heheee...all for one, one for all, maa!

What do you think? If you're interested, please email me at doodledsgn@gmail.com.

Owh, did I tell you I made a badge to the lovely AyuJamal.. who then ordered one more for her BFF blogger, Puanbee- as a gift? Thanks U :).

By the way, Ayu made a very thoughtful post on me last week- really appreciate that, U. Awww...

Adios for now, my friends...
Gotta make more 'vintage' hangers. hehee.

Take care :)

Sweet Happiness

Watercolor & Ink + Photoshop, 2011

Some say that Happiness is a state of mind.
I hope you're feeling happy right now :).

Oh yes, I believe I haven't recorded in my blog the simple Mother's Day Card I made for my siblings to sign in before giving it to our Mom.

Inside: " untuk mak yang paling BEST di donia!"/ for the BEST mom in the world!
Like I said, it was a simple one... but she definitely loved it!

Enjoy your weekend, everyone :)

Another 2 New Painted Cards!

Well, I think you can see what are the Cards were all about! They were sized A5 made on Art Card... and I simply had fun doing them. I know in my heart that the receivers were smiling ear to ear (if not laughing!) when they see the Cards :)... and knowing that, made me feel vewy vewy good inside.

Enjoy, you gals!

It's a Non Woven Eco Bag and I painted a little something on it for the special winner. I hope she'll like it :).

The paints that I used for the bag came from Pelikan Textilmalen Fabric Paint. It's really nice, smooth & quite brilliant on any fabrics. Bought them earlier this year when they had a Jualan Gudang at their HQ in Puchong. But if I'm not mistaken, they're discontinuing this product due to poor demand in Malaysia. Hmm.. sayang plak nak habiskan kaler ni kalu gitu... hihi.

Anyway, I hope the lucky winner will enjoy the1st prize gifts from Doodledesign :). Here's a ' winning batch' for you! You may copy & paste it in your blog, OK dear?

For the 2nd Prize winner who'll get a FREE A5 Sized Black & White Caricature (1 figure/person) + 1 Art Post Card... and 3rd Prize who'll enjoy a Black & White Caricature (1 figure/person) drawn by me but send in digital form...., please find a good, clear, picture of yourself OR your loved one and email me. I'll start sketching once received and send them to you when I'm done.

For those who are not that lucky this time, stick around to see more contests, offers, lucky draws or more doodling from Doodledesign. InsyaAllah.. But in the meantime, I've created a little batch for you guys to take home..or..to your blog, that is. Well, it's OK if you don't feel like a FAN of Doodledesign... it's more like a FRIENDSHIP BATCH  from me :).

When U love Someone..

..what would you give him or her for the most special day of the year..which is his/ her birthday?

I bet you'd give something very dear and special.. something that your special one would most appreciate.. something that is very very thoughtful and comes direct from your very heart.

There are some people that would give the special person some amount of money and ask the latter to buy anything that her heart desires. Hmm.. that would work too, I guess. Not everybody have the pleasure of time to search and buy things.. and perhaps, he really wants her to get something she really likes instead of buying something she'd later throw in the bin... so, yeah, it's better to give her the money.

Even without the element of 'surprise', birthdays are always celebrated with a special gesture, note or gift. It is even more special when you give someone something tangible that you can't always find any where else in the world.. something uniquely ordered, made or commissioned just for him or her.

And one of such gifts is handmade Artworks.. or Cards. These things are in many ways very precious as it is almost impossible to reproduce (which makes it one in a million).. and you can frame and hang 'em on the wall for the memory.. and if the artist someday becomes very famous such as Van Gogh or Picasso.. well, someday it will cost a lot more when she/he is dead. So, please.. never throw away any artworks of any artists you own. Who knows..? But then, that's the sad part of being an artist- sometimes, your creations are worth more when you're gone, vanished, kaput.. kicked the bucket..DEAD!. Well, that's another issue..

Anyway, today is a special day for a special someone of someone else. Err.. I mean, today is my client's hubby's birthday and my shy and beautiful client has asked me to do a custom-made Birthday Card.

Because of privacy, I've been asked to blurred the faces (good, that means I've drawn a very look alike faces- hehe).

The special thing about this card is that I've used watercolor & ink on textured watercolor paper as my media. Really had fun doing this and glad that my client is happy with the outcome.

It is always like that... When you love someone, you'd simply want to make him/ her happy ;).

A Doodle on Recycled Paper

I find it hard to throw away some old things... even a piece of a blank paper. So, what I have now is a lot of 'junks' as my mom pointed out some time ago. And this brown paper has been around for a few years in between my stacks of 'junks'. Then one fine day, I happened to pick it up and just drew something on it. Hmm.. now I'm falling in love with the paper. It makes a simple pen & ink doodle stands out and good enough to make a card for someone special. Heck, I could even sell it if I wanted to :).

Simple & Cheap Card- Unique nonetheless.
RM 1.50 only. Going once.. going twice... SOLD!! to myself. haha.
